Creating a space that feels naturally photographable requires thoughtful planning across architecture, lighting, materials, and emotional cues. For us at The House of Makeba, the design process began with a single question: What story do we want our guests to tell when they post a photo from here?
We didn’t want to create a stage for photography; we wanted to build moments - authentic, organic, and full of personality. From there, every design element found its purpose.
1. Lighting: The Mood Maker
Lighting is the soul of ambience. We chose warm, ambient tones that highlight both faces and food - soft glows that flatter, not flood. The goal was to make every corner naturally photo-ready, whether it’s daylight streaming through our glass panels or golden hues enhancing evening dinners.
Each outlet - in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, and Vadodara - features distinctive lighting accents, from elegant pendant lamps to fairy-lit rooftop canopies. These lights create not just illumination but emotion - the warmth that defines The House of Makeba’s charm.
2. Color and Texture: Crafting a Visual Language
Every color palette was chosen to tell a story. Earthy neutrals meet bold accents - terracotta, deep green, and soft gold - evoking both vibrancy and calm. Textures matter too. From rustic wooden tables to smooth marble tops and rattan backdrops, our design encourages guests to engage through touch as much as sight.
The result? Every frame - whether it’s a close-up of a latte or a wide rooftop view - feels effortlessly aesthetic.
3. Space Planning: Comfort Meets Composition
An Instagrammable space isn’t just about looks; it’s about flow. Families, couples, and groups should each find their perfect corner. Our seating layout allows both intimacy and openness - cozy booths for conversations, spacious rooftops for gatherings, and artistic nooks for those who want that perfect photo.
Every angle was considered for visual balance. Even our plating stations, mocktail bars, and decor walls were designed as natural backdrops for photography - no forced setups, only real beauty in motion.
4. The Rooftop Experience: Dining Under the Stars
Our rooftop spaces across Gujarat became the hallmark of The house of Makeba’s Instagrammable charm. Beautifully lit, breezy, and surrounded by greenery, they offer a cinematic view of the skyline - perfect for evening photos, celebrations, or romantic dinners.
Rooftop dining captures what people love most: atmosphere. The flicker of candles, the rhythm of music, and the quiet hum of conversations - all blending into a sensory experience that photographs beautifully but feels even better in person.
